The announcement was made in an official statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary-General of the church, Prophet Anthony Olusesan Samaye, confirming the death of one of the longest-serving leaders of the white garment church in Nigeria.

According to the statement, Prophet Alogbo died peacefully at about 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his residence in Lagos. He was surrounded by family members and domestic staff at the time of his passing, after a brief illness.

In the statement, the church said, With gratitude to God Almighty for a life well spent, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire church, I write to inform you all that our Spiritual Father was called to glory in the early hours of today, July 30, 2026, at about 2:10 a.m.

Records examined by DailyVista247 showed that Prophet Alogbo was appointed as the fifth Supreme Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide on September 20, 2025, and also served as the Spiritual Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria.

The church described the late cleric as a devoted servant of God whose life was marked by unwavering commitment to the Christian faith and service to humanity. It noted that his leadership spanned several decades, during which he guided the spiritual growth and expansion of the movement in Nigeria and in the diaspora.

Prophet Emmanuel Adewale Abiodun Alogbo, JP, FNCAM, DDM, GCOMS, was widely known as Baba Aladura and rose from being a railway worker and choir director to become a revered prophet and supreme head of the movement, earning him recognition across Christendom.

The church also announced that prayer sessions will be held daily for seven days from 5 p.m. at his residence located at Plot 1, Alogbo Close, off Ahmadiyya Bus Stop, Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos. It added that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, while urging members to remain steadfast in faith and prayer during this period of mourning.

The statement concluded, May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant the church the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, as members across the country continue to pay tribute to the late spiritual father.

The death has attracted condolences from members of the Cherubim & Seraphim family worldwide, with many describing Prophet Alogbo as a father figure whose teachings on holiness, prayer and unity shaped the growth of the church for over half a century.

Church leaders said the seven-day prayer programme at his Lagos residence will serve as a period of reflection and thanksgiving for a life dedicated to spiritual leadership, with daily sessions expected to draw large numbers of faithful from across Lagos and beyond.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Board of Trustees in the coming days, with indications that the burial will attract prominent religious leaders and dignitaries from across Nigeria and the diaspora who admired his leadership.
