Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued an Executive Order establishing a Coroner Inquest and Panel of Inquiry into the recent incident recorded in Ikire.

The incident was reported at Naira and Kobo Junction and the Motor Park and Garage area of Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area on August 24, 2026.

According to the order, the panel was set up to investigate the circumstances that led to the unrest and disturbance reported in the community.

The Osun State Government on Saturday ordered a comprehensive investigation into the situation where several people were reportedly affected and others sustained injuries.

DailyVista247 learnt that Governor Adeleke, through the Executive Order which will take effect on August 31, 2026, constituted a seven-member panel to determine the cause of the disturbance.

The panel is expected to investigate what led to the unrest at the motor park and garage area and identify those responsible for the breakdown of peace.

The state government said the move became necessary following reports of disturbance and unrest in the area, which caused panic among residents.

The government noted that the Coroner Inquest and Panel of Inquiry will examine the remote and immediate causes of the situation and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.

Members of the panel are expected to visit the affected areas, interact with witnesses, and review available evidence related to the incident.

The panel has been given 30 days to complete its assignment and submit its report to the state government for further action.

The governor assured residents of Ikire and the entire Irewole Local Government Area that his administration remains committed to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property.

He also directed security agencies to intensify efforts to maintain law and order in the area to prevent further breakdown of peace.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with the panel to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.

The state government reiterated that anyone found culpable in the disturbance will be made to face appropriate legal action in line with the law.

The government further called on community leaders and stakeholders to support peace efforts and work together to restore normalcy in the affected area.
