The Anambra State Government has unveiled a fresh roadmap to fully digitize governance and integrate Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) into the digital economy by 2030.
DailyVista247 gathered that the initiative is being championed by the Anambra State ICT Agency under its Digital Transformation 2.0 agenda, with focus shifting from basic infrastructure to full service delivery.
The plan was disclosed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, during a virtual media briefing on Tuesday.
Speaking during the briefing, Agbata said the new phase is aimed at making government services more accessible, transparent and efficient for residents.
“The focus has now moved from building basic internet infrastructure to using technology as a key tool for service delivery and economic growth,” Agbata said.
He explained that one of the major pillars of the plan is the OneGov and SmartGov platform, which will allow citizens to access and complete government services online without needing to visit government offices physically.
According to him, the agency is working to transform government websites from simple information portals into transactional platforms.
“We want to transform government websites from just information portals to transactional platforms where residents and business owners can start and finish government processes online,” he said.
As part of the strategy, the agency will develop and automate websites for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
Under the model, residents will be able to access information on government activities, submit applications and make requests online. Physical visits will only be required where verification or in-person presence is necessary.
Agbata revealed that the OneGov platform recorded about 14,000 visits between July 9 and July 29, averaging around 700 visits daily, despite minimal publicity.
“Despite minimal publicity, we recorded about 14,000 visits in 20 days. This shows residents are eager to access government services remotely,” he stated.
He added that the long-term vision is to build a smart and paperless government system, integrate Artificial Intelligence into public service, and connect schools, hospitals and other public institutions into a unified digital ecosystem.
The initiative aligns with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's broader plan to make Anambra a leading digital hub in Nigeria and to support business formalization.
