The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has alerted the public to disregard fake recruitment letters and employment offers being circulated by fraudsters in the name of the authority.
The agency issued the warning in a statement on Thursday signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire.
According to the statement, FAAN's attention was drawn to a fake advertisement circulating online claiming that Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel were being recruited through a link associated with the agency.
The authority described the circulating advertisement and the attached link as fake, misleading and having no connection whatsoever with FAAN.
"We wish to categorically state that FAAN is not conducting any AVSEC recruitment at this time. The advertisement in circulation, including the link attached to it, is fake, misleading, and has no connection whatsoever with FAAN," the statement read in part.
FAAN also disowned a purported "Letter of Provisional Offer of Employment" being circulated by unauthorised individuals who claim to represent the Authority and extort money from unsuspecting members of the public.
DailyVista247 learnt that the agency is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise and disassociates itself from the letter and any related employment offers circulating online.
The authority warned members of the public not to click on the fraudulent link or submit personal information to unidentified sources to avoid falling victim to scams.
FAAN urged Nigerians to be vigilant and to verify any information regarding recruitment through its official channels and verified social media handles.
The agency noted that similar impersonation attempts have affected other government agencies in recent times, with fraudsters creating fake portals to deceive job seekers.
It advised job seekers to disregard any message requesting payment for employment forms or promising jobs in exchange for money, stressing that FAAN does not charge for recruitment.
The management reiterated its commitment to transparency and assured the public that whenever it intends to conduct any recruitment exercise, such information will be duly announced through its official website and credible national dailies.
