OPay has introduced a new nationwide savings campaign aimed at helping Nigerians develop consistent saving habits while earning competitive returns on their deposits.
The initiative, called the 7 Savings Festival, is a 49-day campaign powered by OWealth. It will run from August 10 to September 27, 2026, across the country with focus on financial discipline.
According to the company, the campaign is designed to encourage users to save regularly toward specific financial goals at a time when many households and small businesses are focusing more on financial planning and stability.
Under the campaign, customers can create a Target Savings plan within the OPay app, with savings goals ranging from N77,000 to N777,000, allowing flexibility for different income levels and financial objectives.
Participants who maintain their savings until their target completion date without early withdrawal will be eligible for 27 percent interest per annum, daily interest accrual, and a chance to share from a N77 million additional interest pool.
OPay said the initiative goes beyond attracting deposits, as it is focused on promoting long-term financial discipline and helping users build resilience in managing their personal and business finances.
The fintech company noted that digital financial platforms are increasingly expanding beyond transfers and payments to offer products that help users manage and grow their money in a secure environment.
Through the OWealth platform, participants can monitor their savings goals, track their progress, and view potential rewards, which the company says will improve transparency and encourage accountability among savers.
Commenting on the initiative, Chief Commercial Officer at OPay, Elizabeth Wang, said the festival reflects the company's commitment to supporting financial well-being among Nigerians.
The OPay 7 Savings Festival reflects our commitment to helping Nigerians build stronger financial habits. By saving consistently towards their goals, customers can enjoy rewarding benefits, including an interest rate of 27 per cent per annum, while building financial confidence on a platform they can trust, she said.
DailyVista247 gathered that interested customers can participate by logging into the OPay app and visiting the 7 Savings Festival page to create their Target Savings plan and start their savings journey.
They are required to create a Target Savings plan between N77,000 and N777,000 and save consistently toward their selected goal without withdrawing before the completion date to qualify for full benefits.
The campaign opens on August 10, while new Target Savings plans can be created until September 20, 2026. Final interest earnings and distribution from the N77 million additional interest pool will take place on September 27, 2026.
OPay stated that the campaign is part of its broader effort to make saving more accessible and rewarding, noting that improved saving habits among individuals and small businesses can contribute to greater household financial resilience and overall economic stability.
The company added that the festival is designed to turn savings into a national movement, encouraging Nigerians to develop consistent habits that support long-term financial security.
The fintech firm reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Nigeria, stating that initiatives like the 7 Savings Festival are aimed at deepening savings culture and providing accessible financial tools for millions of users across the country.
