The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates to accept admissions offered from 2021 to date.
The Board announced that the deadline for acceptance or rejection of admission offers has been moved to Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
DailyVista247 learnt that the earlier deadline was fixed for Monday, August 31, 2026, but has now been extended by one month to give affected candidates more time to regularise their admission status.
The development was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who said the extension provides a final opportunity for candidates with outstanding admissions to take action.
According to the statement, the extension is aimed at helping affected candidates regularise the status of their outstanding admissions and maintain accurate records on the Board's portal.
JAMB advised all candidates who were offered admission between 2021 and 2026 and are yet to accept or reject the offers to log into their profiles and take necessary action before the new deadline.
The Board explained that many candidates had been offered admission in previous years but failed to accept the offers on the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), leaving their admission status unresolved for several years.
It noted that the new deadline is intended to clear the backlog of pending admissions and ensure that the Board's database reflects the true status of candidates.
The Board stressed that there will be no further extension after Wednesday, September 30, 2026, and urged candidates to treat the new date as final.
At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to "Not Admitted" status and will remain so on the Board's records.
Candidates were urged to check their admission status on the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and confirm their acceptance to avoid forfeiture of their admission.
The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency in the admission process and urged candidates to comply promptly with the directive to avoid losing their admission opportunities.
JAMB also advised candidates to disregard any third-party messages requesting payment for admission acceptance, as the process is free on its official portal and does not require payment to any individual.
The Board further warned candidates against patronising fraudsters who claim to be able to help them accept their admissions for a fee, stressing that all actions should be done personally through the official JAMB portal.
It assured candidates that the extension will be the last and that any admission not accepted after September 30 will be considered forfeited and removed from the list of valid admissions.
