Concern has spread in Awka, the Anambra State capital, following an unfortunate incident that occurred late on Sunday involving a popular entertainer.
The incident was linked to a reported attack by unidentified individuals at two different locations within the city on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
According to information made available by the Anambra State Police Command, the affected persons were involved in the disturbance that occurred at Capital City Road, Amaenyi, and S.M. Okeke Street, Amaikwo, Awka.
The Police received distress information and immediately mobilised patrol teams to the affected areas to respond to the situation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed that operatives visited the scenes at Capital City Road, Amaenyi, and S.M. Okeke Street, Amaikwo, Awka, where the affected persons were found.
The affected persons were taken to a hospital for medical attention, where they were later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
One of the affected persons was identified as Isaac Nwosu, while the identity of the second person was yet to be confirmed at the time of the report.
The Police Command also disclosed that some personal items were recovered from the scenes during preliminary examination.
Reacting to the development, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the incident as unacceptable and a concern to the peace and security of the state.
The Commissioner directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a detailed and thorough investigation.
Security operatives have also intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence gathering across Awka and surrounding areas to ensure safety.
The Anambra State Police Command appealed to community leaders, residents, motorists, business owners and members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or have credible information to come forward.
It assured members of the public that information supplied would be treated with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
The news of the incident involving Nwosu has led to an outpouring of tributes from residents, members of the entertainment community and social media users.
